Community

Through the apostle Paul, God himself challenges his people to ’serve one another in love’ (Galatians 5:13).  Love is a hallmark of a Christian community, and there are plenty of ways to serve other Christians at Platt in love.  Here are some of them…

Visiting team
Some of our older or less mobile brothers and sisters are not able to be as independent
as perhaps we are, and appreciate the opportunity to get to know others in their own home.  If you’ve got a gift for listening, making conversation and perhaps even enjoying cake, why not contact Liz Grady and chat with her about the possibility of joining the visiting team.

Transport rota
Hebrews 10 seems to suggest that one of the best ways that we can encourage one another to love and good works is by meeting together, and the main ways we do this are through Sunday services and midweek groups like SBS.  It’s a real shame, though, if some are prevented from getting to church on a Sunday because there isn’t enough transport available.  So if you’ve got a car and could give a lift to and from church to someone once a month on a Sunday evening, please do come forward and use that car to serve others.

Stewarding
Has God given you a friendly smile, a welcoming demeanour, a desire to see new people included in the family at Platt?  If so, why not join the welcome team and show Jesus’ love to people as they come through the door into our church gathering on a Sunday?

Platt Snacks
There’s something about food (especially cake!) that encourages community!  And that’s something we love to encourage, so if you’re a dab hand at serving teas, coffees and hot chocolates, or an expert at making brownies, flapjacks or cookies, why not join the Platt Snacks team?  And while you’re at it, get a friend to join with you.  The more people that join, the less often you’ll have to cook!

Admin assistants
One of the ways that Platt stewards God’s money responsibly
is by having a staff team that is unusually small for the size of the church.  However, this does mean that extra help with admin tasks comes in really handy.  So, even if you can’t commit to being able to help out regularly in the office, it’d be hugely helpful if the staff knew that you were up for helping when there is a need if you can.  Administrative tasks are like laces on the boots that keep the gospel running forward in Manchester and beyond: not the most glamorous, but hugely important, for without them, it’d be much easier to trip up and fall flat on our faces!
