Spur on Christian mates
Feast Your Soul > Spur on Christian mates

Christian mates are gifts from God. They’re people to serve, to love, to honour, to help and not hinder, to welcome, to live in harmony with, to instruct, to hang out and eat with, to comfort, get on well with and bear the burdens of, to be patient, kind and forgiving with, to exhort and be honest with, to encourage and build up, to confess sin to and pray with, to thank God for and to spur on.
And if you don’t believe me, ask God.
One of the greatest privileges of being a Christian is that we can call God ‘Father’, since he has adopted us as his sons and daughters (Ephesians 1:5). And, unless you happen to be the only Christian in the world (you’re not), that means that we’re part of a family and that we have spiritual brothers and sisters. All of the things above that we can do for our Christian mates are ‘one another’ exhortations … God’s children serve one another.
Thanks to the joys of phones, text, email, Facebook, Twitter and everything else — not to mention the chance to meet up in the flesh for coffee and Bible study — we can spur on and be spurred on by our Christian mates all summer. So why not, wherever you are, take some time out now to call on a Christian friend, see how they’re doing, share what God’s doing in you and pray for them?
Go on. Help them love Jesus more and let them help you do the same.
