‘Read it, read it, read it!!!’
(Review by Natalie Fee)
I would really recommend the new Piper book, Filling Up the Afflictions of Christ.
It walks through the exceptional lives of 3 Christian men: Tyndale, Judson and Paton. It tells of their personal struggle in risking all for Jesus, spiritually and otherwise, and the joy God opened up for them. The book deals with difficult issues such as why God allows and calls missionaries to face such fierce persecution and how God uses suffering and martyrdom to further his kingdom. It also discusses whether it is right to be afraid of this persecution and how this fear affects whether we should do mission or not.
It’s great to learn history of the real church (those that lived and died for Jesus): rather than studying the history of a religious instituion. It is so encouraging to know God is the same God now as then!
The fruit of these 3 men’s lives, lived wholeheartedly for God, is truly remarkable and will inspire you! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn from their lives… read it, read it, read it!!!
